The regions of Canterbury and Westland cover the whole of the central South Island, from the remote West Coast right through to the East Coast and Banks Peninsula. Westland has a diverse range of natural beauties, which have been preserved through the establishment of 5 National Parks, and is a recognised World Heritage area. From unusual rock formations along the coasts, dramatic rainforests further inland, snow capped mountain ranges and ancient glaciers, and impressive rivers that power their way to the sea, this is a must see for those appreciating unspoilt nature at its best, but as well as the natural wonders there are numerous adventure holiday activities available to visitors.

Heading East over the Southern Alps through Arthur’s Pass you come into Central Canterbury with its many lakes, mountain ranges including NZ’s highest Mountain, Mt Cook, and several of the popular winter ski fields including famous Mt Hutt. To the far Eastern side you have the city of Christchurch and Banks Peninsula where you will find picturesque township of Akaroa with its strong French heritage.
